Furano Melon Sweets Buffet (8/9-8/11)

Furano melon is one of Hokkaido’s representative melon brands.
Enjoy a variety of sweets and breads that make the most of the unique characteristics of both red and blue flesh melons.
In addition to hors d’oeuvres made with melon, light meals such as curry and other summery dishes will be served.
Furano is said to be an ideal melon-growing region because of the large difference in temperature, long hours of sunshine, and almost no rainy season.
Melons grown in Furano are characterized by their sweetness, firm flesh, and satisfying eating quality.
The two varieties of melons used in the sweets were produced by Furano Presents Co.
Tiara (red flesh melon): This variety is only available in Hokkaido. It is characterized by its sweetness and juicy freshness with a sugar content of 15 degrees or higher.
Felice (green-fleshed melon): Italian for “happiness. Its elegant sweetness and soft texture are appealing.
The hotel staff visited the site and confirmed the juicy and delicious melons and their cultivation environment, in which the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers is kept to a minimum and new technologies are actively introduced.

Melons born of Hokkaido’s nature and passion
The melons used in this buffet were produced by Furano Presents, Inc. In addition to melons, Furano Presents produces a wide variety of other crops such as tomatoes, pumpkins, and potatoes. In order to provide safe and secure crops, the company uses as little pesticides and chemical fertilizers as possible and actively introduces new technologies and systems. As a result, we are able to provide stable, high-quality agricultural products and have acquired JGAP certification.
There are two varieties of melons grown by Furano Presents: Tiara and Felice.
- Tiara (red flesh melon): This variety is limited to Hokkaido and is characterized by its sweetness and freshness with a sugar content of over 15 degrees. It is juicy and delicious and you will never get tired of eating it.
- Felice (blue flesh melon): Meaning “happiness” in Italian, this melon has an elegant sweetness and soft texture. This smart melon is especially popular among women.
Delicious taste convinced by on-site inspection
The purchasing manager, executive chef, and patissier of the Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel First Resort traveled to Hokkaido to inspect the melons, meet with the growers in person, and taste the melons. Impressed by the sincerity and commitment of Furano Presents, they decided to purchase additional green melons on the spot. The Purchasing Manager and Executive Chef had the following to say about their impressions of the site visit.
